I am still in shock over yesterday’s Grand Opening. At the beginning of this venture, we were told that we had to find at least 4 vendors to be approved by Metro Parks and to get the support of local government representatives. Many people didn’t think that it could be done, and said that farmers were tapped out and unable to add another Market. Yesterday we had 19 local vendors and farmers and by 6pm several of them had sold out! There were several local News Channels there the day before and the day of, with stories and live footage of the event. Parents could leave their kids at the face painting and craft table to walk about and finally procure local, fresh and seasonal food. Down the hill in the shade there was a yoga class taking place, and afterwards people jammed to the Zumba class. I think the most beautiful part however, was seeing the South Nashville Community come together. Long after things were sold out, people stuck around and chatted with old friends and even new friends. This is what building a community is about, bringing people together for something positive. I think that I can say it was a success for everyone involved. Hope to see you all there next Tuesday!
