Bethany Hard is a certified Naam Yoga Therapist, Pilates and Gyrotonics and also specializes in prenatal yoga. Fluent in Spanish, she travels regularly to Nicaragua, volunteering with children and teens in need, and is co-founder of the Latina Birthing Project, a mentoring program for pregnant Latina teens. She is also currently attaining her Doula certification through DONA.
Bethany is the perfect fit for the South Nashville neighborhood in teaching free yoga classes at the Woodbine Farmers’ Market in Spanish from 6:00-6:45pm. Whether you speak English, Spanish or neither, Bethany’s approach to yoga appeals to everyone and there is something for all ages, body types, and experiences to gain. It is rare that you find someone in Nashville who is willing to provide their talents and gifts for free because they want to better the community and bring something that will empower and balance people, and Bethany is just that person. The Woodbine Farmers Market will have some yoga mats for use, but if you own your own, please bring them to the practice. The class will be held outside under the shade, so please bring a water bottle and wear appropriate clothing for the heat. Think poor man’s version of “hot yoga” Get ready for a restorative blend of yogic movements, stretching postures, breathing, and meditation.
I’ve been trying to find a class to offer during the Woodbine Farmers’ Market hours every week. Once I read a little more about “Zumba” and realized that it was the most attended class at Coleman I knew that was it. When asked why it was the most attended class, Angie said, “#1 it’s fun! People enjoy doing Zumba Fitness with me so they come back again and again. #2 It’s a fantastic full body and cardio workout, that will have you sweating and smiling at the same time. #3 I have so much passion for when I teach my classes, I love teaching them and appreciate the patrons so much for sharing my love of Zumba Fitness.”
The program combines Latin and international music with dance in an effort to make exercise fun. How perfect for our neighborhood! The class will be held outside and taught by instructor Angie (who teaches the class at Coleman) and will be free to anyone who would like to take it.
Angie says, “I am looking forward for teaching for the market, because it will heighten awareness of Zumba Fitness and let people know about great opportunities inside the community to get fit and have fun doing it!” Get ready to dance your butt off, literally!
