Alfresco Pasta

15 Jul

It is a beautiful thing when local companies use local seasonal ingredients for their products. Several of of vendors at the Market source their ingredients from local farms, and Alfresco Pasta is one of them. Alfresco Pasta makes their pasta with local farm eggs, local meat, local cheese and local vegetables. Each week they showcase pasta with items that are in season and at their peak. Last week I bought Spinach Fettuccine and it was delicious, I can’t wait to try to the Ravioli next week. When you walk by their booth next week you will be amazed at the bright colors of their pastas, but do not be fooled- they only use natural coloring from plants and herbs. To top off their high quality product, they do not use any preservatives in their pasta or sauces. Each week you can choose from their seasonal ravioli, tortellini, potato gnocchi, fettuccine, and gourmet pasta sauces to complete your dish.  President and Executive Chef Chris Grisson says “Our passion is combining the Old World quality of small batch production and hands-on manufacturing with a broad and innovative product line to give you menu items that will excite our customers.” This is why I buy local, because small vendors take the time to create a piece of art in what we eat and have a passion for locally sourced ingredients, no preservatives and flavor that will knock your socks off. Check out Alfresco Pasta this week at the Woodbine Farmers’ Market.
